For those who are looking for an exciting and rewarding career should consider Oklahoma RN programs. Registered nurses face challenges on a daily basis and many opportunities to learn valuable skills. A career as a registered nurse also offers job security.

Oklahoma offers a variety of RN programs for one to choose from. A potential student has the ability to choose the program that is right for him or her.

Becoming Licensed by Examination in Oklahoma

In order to become a registered nurse by examination in Oklahoma, one must present documentary proof that he or she is eligible to work in the United States. All applicants are required to complete a criminal background check.

An RN applicant must have graduated from a state-approved nursing education program that included the following areas: Care of adults, care of children, Maternal-newborn nursing, and psychiatric-mental health nursing. There is an $85 application fee.

The test used to license RNs in Oklahoma is the NCLEX. Applicants must first register and pay the $200 fee in order to take this exam. Then, one must submit a licensure application and fees, a passport-type photo, and official transcript (out-of-state grads must submit course descriptions). The exam must be taken within 2 years of graduating, or the individual must fulfill additional education requirements.

Becoming Licensed by Endorsement in Oklahoma

Individuals who are currently licensed in another state or jurisdiction can apply for licensure by endorsement in Oklahoma. These individuals, in addition to the requirements above for all applicants, must have passed either the NCLEX-RN or the State Board Test Pool Examination (SBTPE). Nurses educated outside of the United States must submit proof of English proficiency and CGFNS verification.

All endorsement applicants must submit license verification and evidence of continuing competence in the previous 2 years in one of the following ways:

  • Official transcript or certification of having completed a nursing refresher course
  • Successfully passing the NCLEX-RN
  • Official transcript showing completion of 6 academic credit hours or 105 contact hours
  • Employer Verification Form that shows evidence of licensure in another state with verification of at least 520 work hours in the past 2 years

Why Online RN Classes?

Being a registered nurse is a great career. But many working adults who want to become an registered nurse have an extremely busy schedule - balancing a full-time job, family commitments and other personal responsibilities. The traditional classroom setting offered by most local nursing schools doesn't offer the same flexibility as taking their RN classes online.

Online nursing programs allow each student to fit their education into his or her already busy schedule. Online students can participate in discussion forums and take exams when it's convenient for them. RN nursing students can access their virtual classroom 24 hours per day / seven days per week.

Also, taking RN courses online saves students even more time, as online students don't need to commute to school. Online schools enable busy people to get an RN degree, without interfering with their current professional and personal life.
