Becoming an RN by Examination in Kansas
In Kansas, one can become licensed either by examination or endorsement. The first step in becoming licensed is to have completed an approved nursing education program.
In order for an individual to be licensed by examination, he or she must submit a licensure application and pass the NCLEX. He or she has a 2 year window following graduation in which to take the licensing exam before additional requirements must be met.

Renewing an RN License
Licenses are valid for 2 years, and expiration depends on an individual's date of birth. RNs in Kansas are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education in each renewal period to be eligible.
