LPN to BSN Programs in Arkansas

Arkansas LPN to BSN Programs

The salary of a nurse in the state of Arkansas will vary depending upon what level of education the nurse has obtained. Nurses who hold an LPN certificate will make approximately $14 an hour, while nurses who hold a BSN degree can make anywhere from $20 to $30 an hour depending upon what career they choose to pursue. Individuals in the state of Arkansas who already hold a current LPN certificate may be interested in pursuing a BSN degree. A program known as the LPN to BSN program can help individuals obtain their BSN degree.

An LPN to BSN program is a college program that allows individuals with an existing LPN certificate to obtain their BSN degree. This program allows students to use knowledge they may have obtained while on the job towards their degree. The students may also use existing real world work experience towards their clinical hours they must complete for their BSN degree. This program still requires that students attend various traditional college courses, such as English, math, social science and communication courses. In addition, the course will require students to attend basic and advance nursing courses.

Students will have an option to test out of some of the nursing courses. The testing out option allows students to apply their existing knowledge to their nursing courses. This testing out option allows students to complete their degree faster than if they had to attend all of the class on their own. Most students can complete an LPN to BSN program within three to four years, while a traditional BSN program takes approximately four to six years to complete. In addition to the testing out option, students may also choose to use work as part of their clinicals instead of actually attending clinicals.

The application process for attending an LPN to BSN program is fairly simple. Students will need to show proof of their high school diploma or GED, submit ACT or SAT scores and provide letters of recommendation. Students will also be required to obtain at least a 2.5 GPA in the basic college courses such as English, math and social science. In addition to these requirements students will be required to submit proof of their existing and current LPN certificate. The certificate must be valid in the state of Arkansas. The students must also submit proof that they are currently employed in the nursing industry or worked at least six months in the nursing industry.
