LPN to BSN Programs in Missouri

Missouri LPN to BSN Programs

Nurses who hold a bachelor’s of science in nursing degree have numerous career opportunities available to them. Individuals in the state of Missouri who hold a BSN degree can work in the healthcare industry, teaching field and public health sector. Anyone in the state of Missouri who holds an LPN certificate might be eligible to take part in a college program known as an LPN to BSN program. This college program is designed to help nurses who are currently working in the healthcare sector earn their advanced nursing degree without having to quit their jobs.

The LPN to BSN program is an accelerated college program that allows nursing students to earn their bachelors of science in nursing degree within three to four years. A traditional BSN program can take a nursing student approximately four to six years to complete. The shorter time span of the LPN to BSN program is attributed to the fact that nursing students have the option to test out of basic nursing courses. Students have the ability to take a written test that encompasses all the knowledge and skills that will be learned in the basic nursing courses. If the student passes they are exempt from taking the basic nursing courses.

Nursing students who enroll in the LPN to BSN program also have the option to use their work experience as part of their clinicals. Most nursing students need to engage in anywhere from 10 to 40 hours of clinical work. This allows students to gain hands-on training in the nursing industry. When a student enrolls in the LPN to BSN program they can use their work experience as part of their clinicals. This allows students to earn their advanced degree faster as they are not required to take part in separate clinicals.

Potential nursing students who are interested in taking part in the LPN to BSN program will need to meet certain admission requirements. Admission requirements for entry into the program will vary from school to school, but some requirements are the same no matter what school is chosen. Potential students to the LPN to BSN program will need to show proof of a high school diploma or a GED certificate, submit SAT or ACT scores and provide letters of recommendation. The prospective students will also need to submit proof of a valid, current LPN certificate and proof they held a job in the nursing industry for at least six months.
