LPN to BSN Programs in Kansas

Kansas LPN to BSN Programs

Earning an advanced nursing degree can open many doors to people who wish to work in the rewarding and lucrative nursing industry. Individuals who earn a bachelor’s of science in nursing can work as advance nurses, in a school setting teaching nursing students, or in the public healthcare sector. People who already hold a valid and current LPN certificate in the state of Kansas may be able to pursue an advanced nursing degree through an LPN to BSN program offered by local colleges and online universities.

An LPN to BSN program is an accelerated nursing program that allows students to use existing knowledge and skills they may have learned while on the job towards their advanced nursing degree. Students who have worked in the nursing industry or currently work in the nursing industry have the option to test out of classes. This test out option allows students to use their existing knowledge and skills to skip over basic nursing courses, which will already teach skills and knowledge that they know from working on the job. Students are only able to test out of basic nursing courses and must take part in advanced nursing courses.

Another option provided by this accelerated nursing program in the state of Kansas is the option to use work experience as part of a student’s clinicals. Every nursing student who wishes to earn an advanced nursing degree must take part in several hours of clinical work. Clinical work gives students the ability to have hands-on experience working in a healthcare setting. Students who already hold a nursing job may be able to use their work experience in place of clinicals. This will speed up the amount of time it takes to earn an advanced nursing degree.

Prospective students who wish to take part in an LPN to BSN program must meet several admission requirements. The admission requirements are similar to any four year college or university. Student must submit proof of a high school diploma or GED certificate, ACT or SAT scores, and letters of recommendation. Some schools may require students to take a TEAS test which tests basic grammar and math skills. In addition to these basic admission requirements, students who wish to apply to the LPN to BSN program must submit proof of a current and valid LPN certificate and proof that they have worked or held a job in the healthcare or nursing industry for at least six months.
