LPN to BSN Programs in Nebraska

Nebraska LPN to BSN Programs

Nurses who currently hold an LPN certificate in the state of Nebraska have the option to pursue an advanced nursing degree by attending an accelerated nursing program offered by traditional and online colleges. Pursuing an advanced nursing degree, such as a BSN degree, allows nurses to earn a higher hourly wage, pursue other career opportunities, and work independently. An accelerated nursing program like the LPN to BSN program allows nurses to earn their BSN degree in a shorter span of time than a traditional BSN degree program.

The LPN to BSN program is very similar to the BSN program. However, there are a few differences that make the program worthwhile for nurses. The biggest difference in the program is the time it takes to earn the BSN degree. Students in a traditional BSN program can take four to six years to complete all the course work and clinicals required to earn a BSN degree. Students who enroll in the LPN to BSN program take only three to four years to complete the course work. This shorter time span is due to the fact students have the option to test out of classes and use work experience towards their clinicals.

All nursing students who earn their BSN degree are required to engage in several hours of clinical work. The traditional BSN program has clinicals set up as separate courses. Nursing students who enroll in the LPN to BSN program in the state of Nebraska have the option to use their current job as part of their clinicals. This allows students to gain experience while on the job and eliminates the need for students to attend separate classes and courses, which can slow down the time it takes to earn the BSN degree.

Prospective Nebraska students who wish to enroll in an LPN to BSN program will notice the admissions process is very similar to any four year college. Students will be required to submit proof of a high school diploma or GED certificate, ACT or SAT scores, and complete the admissions packet. Nursing students who apply to the LPN to BSN program will also need to supply additional information to their school of choice. Nursing students will need to submit proof that they hold a valid, current Nebraska LPN certificate and they will need to supply proof that they held a job in the nursing industry for at least six months. All of these requirements must be met to be considered for the LPN to BSN program.
