LPN to BSN Programs in Idaho

Idaho LPN to BSN Programs

Pursuing a career in nursing in the state of Idaho can be both rewarding and lucrative. Nurses who hold an LPN certificate can make approximately $15 to $20 an hour, depending upon work experience and who is the employer. A nurse who holds an advanced degree, such as a bachelor’s of science in nursing, can make approximately $19 to $35 an hour, depending upon what career the individual chooses to pursue. Nurses who currently hold a valid LPN certificate in the state of Idaho may want to consider attending an LPN to BSN program to help earn an advanced nursing degree.

An LPN to BSN program is designed to help students earn their advanced nursing degree without requiring them to quit their jobs. This degree program is set up to help students earn their BSN degree in approximately three to four years, compared to the four to six years it takes a traditional BSN program. This program is offered by both traditional and online colleges. The reason the program can be done so quickly is because students have the option to take part in several accelerated programs.

The first accelerated program is the ability to test out of a class. Many students who already hold an LPN certificate have the knowledge and skills that are taught in the basic nursing classes. Students are able to take a written test that will prove they possess these skills and knowledge. When the test is passed students can be exempt from taking part in these basic courses. Another part of the accelerated program is the ability to use work experience as part of a student’s clinicals. This eliminates the separate clinicals a student needs to take part in and speeds up the amount of time it takes to earn a BSN degree.

Prospective students in the state of Idaho who may want to take part in an LPN to BSN program may need to meet several admission requirements. Almost all online and traditional colleges require that students show proof of a high school diploma or GED, ACT or SAT scores, and present letters of recommendation from employers and teachers. Students who want to enter the LPN to BSN program will also need to submit proof of a valid LPN certificate and proof of holding a job in the healthcare or nursing industry for at least six months. Once these admission requirements are met students may be offered a spot in the LPN to BSN program.
